WS7 weather report for Hammerwich, Lichfield, Burntwood, Brownhills and surrounding areas (18 May 2011).

Observations made 06:17 hours Hammerwich, Staffordshire.

Air pressure : 1012.5mb

Temperature : 12.3c

Wind : 12mph SW

Relative humidity : 83%

Rain since 00:01 hours : 0mm

Forecast for today.

The radar images show some rain carrying clouds moving into our area between 08:15 and 09:30 hours. These clouds show as having  quite light density and, therefore, the most we are likely to see is a few spots of drizzle and, for the majority, no rain at all.

The remainder of the morning will remain cloudy but as the afternoon passes by the cloud will begin to thin and then fracture to allow some late afternoon / early evening sun to shine through.

Our top temperature today will be around 14-15c but our low will fall, due to the clearer sky, to around 6c tonight. (Last night our low was 12c and our daytime high 17c).

A light breeze will remain all day and this will have occasional gusts.  The average wind speed I expect is around 12mph.

Looking ahead – the thermal radar images show the jet stream sitting across the country for the next few days.  This means that we can expect Thursday and Friday to follow a similar pattern to today.  Time will tell, however, as conditions can change very quickly!

Summary

Cloudy start clearing later.
