Forecast for today.
Bright sunshine and a near clear sky greeted me this morning as I made my observations. The moon was still visible and full – it was a pleasure to be awake!
The day will start our bright and we will see a fair amount of sunshine. This will help lift our top temperature up to around 18-19c from the overnight low of 10c.
As the afternoon passes cloud will increase from the south west and this will, eventually, bring us complete cover. One benefit of this cloud cover is that overnight temperatures will be higher than the previous night by about 3c. (Overnight low 13c).
With the jet stream (and our weather pattern) running predominantly W to E inclement weather is sure to part of the scheme and, today, will be no different.
Rain will spread into our area during the evening and will be with us for an hour or so, The rain will be pretty widespread across the UK as the system works its way from SW towards the NE.
Our wind will be from the SW-WSW for much of the day and, at times, as the clouds begin to gather, become a little gusty. On average the wind speed will be around 7mph.
Summary.
Bright start, cloud increasing, rain later.
