Forecast for today.

Many of us will have been woken by the sound of rain blowing onto the window but this will not be a complete reflection of the day ahead.

The cloud cover that is currently with us with begin to disperse and thin and by mid to late morning we will be left clear and bright spells.  The breeze, that is currently blowing in our area from the SW, will continue for much of the daylight hours but the isobars do show a widening in the spacing between lines of pressure as the day passes.  This means that the wind speed should reduce by late afternoon / early evening.

A feature of the strong wind is to reduce the “feel” of the temperature by a couple of degrees. Our measured top temperature today will be around 11c  and overnight this will fall to around 3-4c.  Gardeners, therefore, should prepare their delicate plants for a possible ground frost.

Last year, on this date, we had the first fall of snow in our area and our top temperature for the day was around 0c.  This was really the beginning of the cold winter.

Summary

Breezy and bright day after cloudy and wet start.  Getting cold overnight.
