Forecast for today
After a cool night when our low fell to 3c we are in for a reasonably warm day with a top temperature of around 11c. Overnight our low will only fall to around 9c. (Last year on the same date our temperature at 08:33 hours was -7.1c and our daytime high reached -2c).
The wind will remain from a generally S direction (SW-S) and this will bring warm air into the area. This warm air will create an increasing level of cloud over our patch although we might see some fragmentation from time to time which will allow for some brighter spells.
The gfs expert pressure chart for europe is showing a band of rain heading towards the UK over the next 24-48 hours and we can expect to the first rain either late today or early tomorrow depending on the wind speeds.
The wind will be lighter than we have experienced with an average speed of around 8mph although we can expect gusts in the mid 20s. The isobars tighten over our area after noon and we can expect wind speeds to pick up from thereon (see pressure chart).
Summary.
Warm but cloudy. Breeze increasing as the day passes. Mostly dry.
