WS7 weather report for Hammerwich, Lichfield, Burntwood, Brownhills, Bloxwich, Pelsall and surrounding areas (13 December 2011)

Observations made 06:24 hours Hammerwich, Staffordshire.

Air pressure : 981mb

Temperature : 3.2c

Wind : 4mph SW-WSW (Wind chill 1.6c)

Relative humidity : 87%

Rain last 24 hours : 8.8mm

Rain since 00:01 hours : 5.8mm

Forecast for today.

Whilst the heaviest part of the overnight rain may have now passed we will still see the odd shower or even wintry shower throughout the day but any rain or sleet is more likely during the period up to lunch.

The jet stream is currently running below the UK and this will allow us to have some brighter spells but this also means that the northern climate will dominate and temperatures will struggle to get past 4c.  With the wind still blowing briskly from the SW-WSW at an average speed of around 12mph the temperature will not feel much above 1c – a chilly day.

Overnight the cloud cover will remain thin and this will allow temperatures to fall to around 1c.  We can, therefore, expect some frost and ice in the morning.

Summary

A cold day with occasional showers and brighter spells.  Remaining breezy.
