Forecast for today.
The jet stream is lying across the northern parts of the UK at the moment which is allowing milder air from the south to reach our area. This will bring us, over the next few days, a period of warm temperatures but also some cloud.
Today will be exactly the same. At the moment the jet stream is fairly weak but as the day passes it will strengthen its position and this will allow the southern climate to really dominate. With this exchange of the two climatic conditions comes the chance of some showers as the clouds, at times, will be quite dense.
The top temperature today will be around 8c. This time last year our maximum daytime temperature was -2c. Overnight there will be little temperature change and we will all wake up on Christmas morning to some mild temperatures.
It will remain breezy throughout the day with an average wind speed, from the SW, of around 10mph and gusts of around 25mph.
Finally, can I take this opportunity to wish all the readers of this blog a peaceful Christmas.
Summary.
Mostly cloudy and mild with the chance of the odd shower.
Merry Christmas and thanks for all the very accurate forecasts!
