Forecast for today.
The day will start off calm and mild with possibly some light mist in more rural areas. As the day passes the pressure charts show the isobars beginning to tighten and this indicates we will see an increase in wind speed. The average speed this afternoon will be around 10-12mph with gusts of around 20-25mph. The wind will be coming from S-SSW.
With a southerly wind comes some mild temperatures and we can expect a daytime high of around 9c. There will, however, not be too much sun to be seen as we will have plenty of cloud cover for the majority of the day. With cloud always comes the risk of some drizzle, however, I expect the daylight hours to remain generally dry.
After dark a band of rain, some of which could be heavy, will be moving west to east across the UK. This rain will reach us towards the end of the day / in the early hours of tomorrow.
With all of the cloud cover this evening there will be little or no opportunity for our astronomy friends to gain a clear view of the sky.
Summary
Mild but cloudy day. Heavy rain late in the evening.
