Observations made 06;32 hours Hammerwich, Staffordshire.

Air pressure : 1020mb

Temperature : 11.6c

Wind : 6mph WSW

Relative humidity : 93%

Rain this month / year : 19.8mm / 70.4mm

Sunrise / sunset : 06:54 / 17:19 hours

Forecast for today.

The jet stream is currently taking a path across the UK via lower southern parts.  This is bringing warmer air to the UK (see image) today.  This situation will be short lived as the jet stream will shortly return to a more normal west to east pattern causing temperatures to fall.  However, for today, we can enjoy a little warmth.

Although the temperatures will be higher today at around a maximum of 14c we will still have some thin cloud cover.  This will dissipate from time to time to allow some brighter spells. Overnight our low will be around 9c.

Like yesterday the wind will remain brisk and we should expect an average speed, blowing from the WSW, of around 8-10mph.  Gusts will be up to 25mph.

I do not see any rain on the radar images and, therefore, we should remain dry all day.  Not great news for the depleted water stocks across the UK or those hoping for the Chasewater reservoir to fill sooner rather than later.

Summary.

Mild day with some bright spells.
