WS7 weather update for Hammerwich, Lichfield, Burntwood, Brownhills, Bloxwich and Pelsall areas (29 February 2012)

Observations made 06:24 hours Hammerwich, Staffordshire.

Air pressure : 1023mb

Temperature : 8.1c

Wind : 1mph SW

Relative humidity : 92%

Rain this month / year : 20.2 / 70.8mm

Sunrise / sunset : 06:41 / 17:30 hours

Forecast for today.

The band of high pressure that is covering our area remains in position for today and the jet stream continues to pick up warm air from the south west before looping above the UK.  Combine these two factors and we are in for another mild day today.

The day will start off cloudy but as the day passes the cloud will fragment and eventually clear to leave a clear sky.  Tonight will be a good night for our astronomers to gain a good night’s viewing.

The winds from the SW will remain light all day and we should expect average wind speeds of only 4-5mph.

Although we will see some clear sky and winter sun the day will be cooler  than yesterday due to the lack of cloud.  Our top temperature will be around 12c and our overnight low will fall to approximately 6c.  I do not expect any rain to fall in our area today.

Summary.

Cloudy start but getting brighter.
