Forecast for today.

The day will start off grey and gloomy and if you venture out you may even feel the odd spot of dampness in the air.  A real contrast to some of the days we enjoyed during mid week.

The jet stream is now running down the country and this is bringing with it cooler air from the north. Our top temperature today will be around 10c.

As the day passes  the clouds will begin to break up and by late tonight we will be left with a clear sky.  This will allow temperatures to fall and, therefore, gardeners should prepare their young and tender plants for the potential of ground frost and temperatures of around 2c and maybe even a touch lower.

Overall, however, it will remain a dry day and so long as you are prepared for the cooler weather it will still be a reasonable day for venturing out and about.

The winds will remain from a generally northerly direction throughout the day with average speeds of around 7mph.

Summary

Cloudy start getting brighter later.  Cold overnight.
