Forecast for today.

An interesting day of developments weather wise.

For the morning and the majority of the afternoon our area will be covered by a band of high air pressure.  This will help bring us some bright spells and only a few clouds early on.

To the north of us, however, a band of lower pressure is developing.  This is created by the jet stream taking a more west to east path across the UK as the day passes.  These later developments will see cloud cover increase and thicken as the day passes.  This will eventually lead to rain overnight.

During the brighter periods our top temperature will reach around 10c.  Winds will be light to start with but as the clouds increase the low pressure system will bring increased wind speeds.  The average speed during the morning will be around 4mph and during the afternoon and evening this will increase to 8-10 mph.  The wind will be generally from the SW.

With the thickening cloud and probable rain temperatures overnight will be a little higher than recent at around 4c.

Early brightness being replaced by cloud later.
