Forecast for today.
Once again the UK remains under a system of low pressure. The jet stream is running across the southern parts of the country allowing the more northern climate to dominate.
This will allow some brighter spells with clear skies, however, because of the proximity of the jet stream we will also see some showers from time to time.
In our area the showers will be mostly in the afternoon and early evening. Some of these showers could be heavy. With less cloud cover today temperatures will only reach around 8-9c. Overnight the low will fall to 3c. Gardeners need to protect their young and tender plants again tonight.
I am unable to report the cumulative rainfall figure due to an instrument failure. I do, however, hope to get this situation sorted over the weekend.
Looking towards the weekend the current GFS model shows more showers during Saturday and Sunday. The heaviest of the rainfall being during the afternoon on both days.
Summary.
Some bright spells but showers too.
