Forecast for today.
After yesterday’s heavy rain today will seem a little calmer.
The low pressure system remains with us due to the position of the jet stream. See image below. You will see that the jet stream is looping to the north before running below the UK. This is creating our inclement weather at the moment.
Today, we will see more periods of showers at any time during the day but I think the heaviest of the them will be during the afternoon. We will not, however, see the overall levels of rainfall we received yesterday.
Daytime temperatures will be up to around 11c and our overnight low will fall to around 5c. During the day we may even see the odd bright spell though some fragmented cloud!
The wind, because of the jet stream loop, will first be forced from the SW but we may see a slight shift towards the W. The average wind speed will be around 8mph with gusts around 25mph.
Summary
A mostly cloudy day with some showers.
