Forecast for today.

For those readers of my post yesterday, today’s wet and windy weather will come as no surprise.

The jet stream has created a low pressure “loop” to the south of us and this will get pushed further north as the day passes.  We will, therefore, see rain for all of the daylight hours and into the mid evening. 

It is not a day for trying to venture out too far.  There will be a lot of standing water on the roads and with the spray and heavy rain visibility will be poor.  Overall we can expect another 20-25mm of rain today.  It is possible we may see even more depth of rain depending on how slowly the clouds move.

Our wind is blowing from the NE and this is adding a real chill to the temperature.  Our top daytime temperature will be around 7-8c, however, it will feel a couple of degrees lower than that.

The wind will blow quite strongly at times.  The average wind speed will be around 10mph but gusts will reach the mid 30s.  (I have just recorded a gust speed of 36mph at my station).

Overnight the rain will clear leaving us a mild night.  Temperatures will only fall by a degree or so to around 5-6c under the cloudy sky.
