Forecast for today.
The jet stream will today run a course from the NW to SE across the UK. See image. This will bring with some cool air.
Temperatures today will only reach a maximum of 10c as the steady NW breeze brings a chill from the north. The average wind speed will be around 8mph with gusts of around 15mph.
The early morning cloud will break up a little and we will see some brighter spells, however, there will also be plenty of showers around. The current radar images show that rain showers are likely throughout the morning drive time. The showers will then return around late morning and are likely to “crop up” anytime during the afternoon to early evening. Some of the showers could turn to hail.
Overnight the sky will clear and we will be left a cool night with a low of 4c. Gardeners should consider protecting their young and tender plants.
The positive side of today is that high pressure is pushing across the UK and this will bring some prolonged brighter spells tomorrow, however, with the current jet stream position the air will remain cool.
Summary.
Cool and breezy. Occasional bright spells but showers becoming more regular as the day passes.
