Cloud and more cloud.

If you like to see plenty of cloud then today is the day for you.  Unfortunately the cloud cover will not be pretty fluffy clouds but will be widespread altrostratus and stratus type clouds which, by their very nature, are flat and featureless.

With the daytime cloud temperature will only reach a maximum of around 16c.  During the late evening the cloud cover will move SE and this will leave us with a clear night and temperatures of around 7c.  Gardeners should be making preparations to protect their tender plants.

The jet stream will gradually move down the UK as the day passes.  This will bring a number of low pressures systems across our area.  As the Jet Stream makes it move then we have a chance of some rain during the afternoon (around 35% chance).  Coupled with this will be a constant breeze of around 8-10mph with gusts up to 25mph.  The breeze will be from the SW.

Cloudy and dull day clear and cool overnight.

Observations made 08;22 hours – Hammerwich, Staffordshire.

Air pressure : 1011.1mb; Temperature : 13.4c; Wind ; 8mph SW; Relative humidity : 85%; Rain last 24 hours : 0mm.
