The system of low pressure we have been talking about for a few days is still sitting centrally across the UK and this will mean some more unsettled weather today.
The low pressure is being caused by the movement of the jet stream and the “loop” that it has created whilst moving across the UK. The image below shows perfectly how the jet stream is “looping” below the UK leaving a system of low pressure behind.
Today will be very breezy with an average wind speed of around 12mph. Gusts will reach speeds of around 25-30mph. It would be good idea to make sure that all loose items in the garden are put away or secured.
The morning will be generally dry although we may see the odd spot of localised rain. This afternoon, however, more persistent and generale rain will move into our area and we can expect to see spells of rain from early afternoon right through the night.
Our top temperature will be around 12c although the breeze will make this feel a couple of degrees cooler. Overnight the low will be around 9c.
Windy with rain this afternoon and evening.
