Improving picture.

After a wet day, particularly towards the later hours yesterday, today will see a lot less rain or threat orf rain.  The threat of the odd shower will still be with us but is less likely during the morning after rush hour.  The risk of an isolated shower will return with the clouds during parts of the afternoon.

The rain cloud system that “released” over 13mm of rain on us in the last 24 hours is now moving towards the NE.  This will leave behind cloud but also some brighter spells too.

You will notice, as you step out of the door, that it is not only wet underfoot but also that it is a bit breezy too.  The breeze will remain with us for much of the day and will be blowing from an arc between the WSW and the W.  The average wind speed will be around 9mph and gusts will reach around 20mph.

With the weather generally improving (indicated in part by the air pressure rapidly increasing) the top temperature will reach around 11-12c.   The overnight low will be around 4-5c.  This again is low enough for our gardeners to protect young or tender plants.

Summary for today.

Generally improving picture with rain clearing towards the NE.  Some bright spells but breezy.

Observations made 06:29 hours Hammerwich, Staffordshire.

Air pressure : 1000.8mb (rising rapidly); Temperature : 8c; Wind : 6mph SSW; Relative humidity : 89%; Rain last 24 hours : 13mm.
