As you step out today you will feel a distinct chill in the air, see thin or fragmented clouds and, if it is still dark, the stars in the sky. Currently (at 06:20 hours) the temperature is just around 4c and our top temperature today will only reach around 7c.
As I outlined in yesterday’s post the jet stream will bring cold winds from the north over the next few days. Tonight and into the early hours of tomorrow the air temperature will fall to around freezing point.
We will see some cloud today but also plenty of clear spells too. As the day passes the cloud will dissipate and we will be left with a clear night. Good news for our astronomers but not such good news for our gardeners (unless you are growing parsnips). Gardeners will need to protect young and tender plants tonight.
The wind today will be from the NNE to NNW and will have an average speed of around 8mph with gusts, at times, up to 20mph. This breeze will help reduce the “feel” of the temperature by a degree or two.
Some bright spells but remaining cool. Becoming cold overnight.
