Wind chill – hat and gloves required.

Last night saw more rain falling in our area and since 00:01 hours nearly 6mm fell in Hammerwich.  Clearly, this will create some more driving hazards this morning with standing water, spray and local flooding.

The jet stream is now running from the N down the UK and this is creating a cool northerly breeze.  The breeze will, at times, be a little gusty.   The average wind speed will be around 9mph with gusts of around 30mph.  With the breeze being a little stronger it will have a wind chill effect.  The actual top air temperature today will be around 7c, however, it will feel more like 5c.

The light rain this morning will eventually completely clear our area around lunch time / early afternoon.  After this the day will remain dry with patchy cloud.  The overnight temperature will then fall to around 3c by dawn.

Summary.

Rain eventually clearing to leave a cool and breezy day.

Observations made at 06:32 hours Hammerwich, Staffordshire.

Air pressure : 1003.3mb, Temperature : 6.4c, Wind : 8mph N, Relative humidity: 95%, Rain since 00:01 hours : 5.6mm, Rain this month 89.2mm.
