Umbrella needed today?

After yesterday’s relatively calm and mild day today’s weather will be dictated by a large low pressure system that will push its way across the UK from a general W to E direction.

The low pressure system will bring an increase in wind speed as the day passes.  Currently the wind (at 06:40 hours) is blowing from the ENE but this will shift towards the ESE.  The average wind speed will be around 10mph with gusts of up to 30mph.

Bands of rain will also push across our area.  The radar images are showing that the first system will be with us around 10:00 hours.  Other system will, however, bring rain or drizzle from time to time throughout day.  The heaviest of the rain appears to be later in the evening / over night.

Our top temperature today will be around 5c with little temperature change overnight due to the increased cloud.

A good day for staying in and wrapping presents.
