The low pressure system we spoke about yesterday is with us and bringing inclement weather to our area today.
Rain will remain with us for the vast majority of the day. Some of the showers could be heavy and, with the overall accumulation, we could see some localised flooding. Already we have had 6.4mm of rain fall in our area today (1/4inch) and yesterday 5.7mm of rain accumulated. We can expect around another 10mm of rain today.
With all of the rain it will also, inevitably, be a cloudy day but that means it will be relatively warm. Our daytime high will be around 7c. Overnight the minimum temperature will be 5c. This relative warmth is in contrast to the 20 december 2010 when at 06:28 hours the temperature was -9.8c and the daytime high reached -4c. The temperature overnight fell to -10.2c.
It will be a little breezy today and particularly this morning. Our average wind speed will be around 7mph with gusts up to 20mph. The wind will start off from the ENE but will eventually move clockwise ending the day from the W.
A wet day with little respite.
