This morning we will see that we have another light dusting of snow. This system has been in our area since around 04:00 hours and will stay with us until around 09:30 hours. The fall will be light but, like all snow, will slow down the traffic movements this morning.
The day will remain cold with our high reaching around 1c. Overnight the cloud will thin a little to allow temperatures to reach a minimum of around -4c.
Whilst this period of cold weather does seem to be lingering there are changes beginning to happen that will see the snow turn to rain over the weekend. By Saturday / Sunday the jet stream will be bringing in warmer but wet weather in from the Atlantic. This will replace the cold winds we are currently experiencing from the NE and E.
The average wind speed today will be around 5mph and will be blowing from the ENE-NE.
Summary
