After all of the snow flurries yesterday that really didn’t add to the accumulation with any significance today will be a day of some contrast.
Firstly, a system of high pressure is beginning to push across our area this means that we will see a thinning of the cloud and the odd bright spell. This, however, will be tempered by a light 2-3mph breeze from the cold ENE.
We are unlikely to see any generalised snow fall today and any flurries (around 15% chance) will only be localised. The hazards today, however, will be from ice and mist / fog.
With clear spells and less cloud cover the air temperature will fall after dark leaving a hard frost and the fallen snow will ice over. The top temperature today will be around -1c and overnight the low will be around -5c. Either end of the day but in particular tonight we are likely to see a general veil of mist and maybe fog in our area.
Summary
A generally dry day with some brighter spells possible. Mist and a cold night ahead.
