After a cold night when the minimum temperature reached -4.9c at o4:49 hours this morning the cloud cover has begun increasing in density. This is having the effect of increasing the air temperature. This increase may bring some mist to the area this morning.
As the day passes cloud will continue to thicken bringing the daytime high to around 0c. With the cloud also comes the risk of some further precipitation. This precipitation will initially fall, around mid afternoon, as snow but as the day continues the snow will turn to sleet and eventually rain. The chance of the initial snow falling is around 80%. The chance of us seeing rain today is around 98%.
The snow, if it falls as the radar images suggest, could be initially moderate to heavy. This could cause some form of travel disruption around early drive time. The rain is likely to be heavy at times and, with the increased temperature, will begin to wash away a lot of the lying snow.
Wind speeds today will be around 6mph with gusts of around 20mph. The wind will be blowing from the milder SSE.
Summary
Getting milder with some precipitation this afternoon which will be in the form of snow but turning to finally rain.
