Low pressure systems out to the West of the UK are gradually moving towards our area and these will bring more rain today. We can expect to see more persistent showers during the afternoon and early evening although we may see the odd isolated shower before then.
Like yesterday the wind will again be a prominent feature today. The wind will be blowing from the SSW this morning. As the day passes the wind will be direction will “shift” clockwise towards the WSW. In the afternoon the wind is likely to pick up some speed. During the morning the average wind speed will be around 8-9mph but when the clouds thicken we will see average wind speeds nearer 17mph with gusts of around 35 – 40mph.
The temperature will again be positive today. We can expect the daytime maximum to be around 8c and overnight the minimum will be 4-5c. With the strong breeze we can expect to have some wind chill factor. This will make the temperature “feel” 2-3c lower than the thermometer is reading.
Looking ahead we can expect to see plenty more showers this week.
Breezy with showers during the afternoon.
