Hold on to your hat!

As you will have no doubt noticed the day ended yesterday a little breezy and today will remain much the same.  We will not see the wind start to die down until later this evening.

The average wind speed today will be around 15mph but we can expect gusts to reach 35  – 40mph.  At the time of observation the average gust speed over the last 10 minutes is 30 mph.  The good news is that the wind will be warm as it is blowing from the SW.  The general wind force today will be around Beaufort scale 6 to 7.

The radar images are showing plenty of rain just to the W and N of us at the time of observation. We can expect to see some showers reach us throughout the morning.  I also expect to see more generalised rain in our area during the afternoon. Wind and rain during the day doesn’t sound a great combination does it?

Our top temperature today will be lower than recent at around 12c.  Overnight the minimum temperature will be around 5c.

Very breezy with some rain showers too.

Observations made 06:30 hours Hammerwich, Staffordshire.

Air pressure : 1004 mb ; Temperature : 8.7c; Wind : 17 mph SW ; Relative humidity : 70%; Rain since 00:01 hours : 0.2mm; Rain this month : 5.6mm; Rain this year : 118mm
