Today our area is covered by a simple system of high air pressure. This means that the winds will be light and we will see some brighter spells.
First thing this morning, as I write this post, we are already enjoying a bright spell with the sun shining through fragmented cloud. This will be the pattern throughout the day. The sun’s job will, however, become easier – as the day passes the cloud will break up more during the day.
The low breeze also means that there will be little wind chill to consider and so we can enjoy the top temperature of around 13c to its full value. Overnight the lack of cloud will mean that the air temperature will dip again. The low we can expect is around 2c. (Last night the low was 1.9c at 06:02 hours).
The chance of any rain today is low but does exist. The estimated chance of a shower today is around 10%.
The jet stream continues to take a detour towards the N before heading across the UK. This means that any wind will be blowing from the WNW-NW. The average wind speed will, however, only be around 4-5mph.
Looking ahead to Tuesday the jet stream will be taking an almost N-S journey across the UK. This will bring cool winds to all parts of the UK.
Some bright spells with a lighter breeze than of late.
