Hold on to your hat.

A low pressure system is developing just to the W of the UK at the moment and this will bring today’s weather.  The system is made up of a number of tightly packed pressure systems (see chart – note the “U” shaped band of rain) and this will bring rain and increased wind speeds to our area as the day passes.

The day will start off with some brighter spells but by late morning / early afternoon we can expect to see some rain falling.  This rain will probably fall at its heaviest during mid-afternoon and eventually fade away towards the end of the day.

As the rain come so will the wind speeds increase.  The average wind speed this afternoon will be around 12-15mph with gusts around 30-35mph.  The moral of the this tale is to get your jobs outside done as early as possible this morning.  The wind will be blowing from the SW.

Our top temperature today will be around 9c and overnight the low will be around 7c.
