It will have been hard not to have noticed the early morning rain falling in our area.  If, however, you did sleep through the thunder and rain around 12.4mm of rain has already fallen today with more to come.  The radar images are clearly showing that more heavily laden rain clouds are heading our way from the Worcestershire area during drive time.

We can expect to see showers fall until the early evening.  It will not rain throughout this period, however, the risk will exist.  Currently (although the situation can change with a subtle movement in the wind direction) we can  expect some heavy falls around lunchtime and mid afternoon.

It will still be a warm and humid day with a top temperature of around 24c.  Overnight the minimum temperature will be 14-15c.

With the rain, which will help all of the local crops, also comes the good news that the pollen count will be reduced to moderate.  Some respite for all those of you suffering with hay fever.

The wind will be light throughout the day with current (06:30 hours) easterly wind eventually moving clockwise to derive from the west by mid afternoon.  The average wind speed will be around 4mph.

Further rain and thunder but remaining warm and humid.

Observations made 06:37 hours Hammerwich, Staffordshire.
