As I outlined in yesterday’s blog a large band of rain cloud is currently moving across the UK from SW to NE and most parts of the UK will receive some rainfall today. In some areas the rainfall could be very heavy. Before the rain arrives, however, we will have another slightly misty start to the day.
The radar images are showing that the edges of the rain cloud system will reach our area around 09:00 hours and until noon we are at a 90% risk of seeing some rain. The majority of the rain that we do see in this period would be light. The heaviest of the rain will reach our area around lunchtime / early afternoon.
Once the rain begins clearing our area (mid afternoon) we will see some brighter spells as the cloud beings to fragment. The top temperature today will be around 11c with the overnight temperature being around 8-9c. (Last night’s low was 6c at 02:49 hours).
Whilst the low pressure system (that is creating the precipitation) is with us the wind will be breezy all day. The average wind speed will be around 10mph. The wind will start off from the NE and end the day from the SW.
Rain, some heavy, during the day.
