Storms have caused a lot of disruption in the SW of the UK and on the Isle of Wight a wind speed of 99mph was recorded. Fortunately for us the damaging winds have not reached our area although we are receiving a lot of rainfall. So far just over 12mm of rain has fallen in the day and whilst it is breezy outside it not a damaging. We should not have seen any structural damage, caused by the wind, in our area. The biggest danger in our patch today will be from rising rivers and standing water. Care needs to be taken when driving around.
The rain will continue as a threat into the mid afternoon after which we will see the clouds break and the some brighter spells develop. The top temperature today will only be around 11c and overnight the minimum temperature will be around 7c.
The wind will continue to be “breezy” all day and the average speed will be around 10mph with gusts of around 20-25mph. The wind will be deriving from the SW-WSW.
Rain continuing as a threat for large parts of the daylight hours.
