A day for staying in.

If you have left your shopping until today then you have not chosen the best of days weather wise.  The current position is that as the day passes we will see plenty of wind and rain.

If, however, you are planning to travel the advice from the Met Office is to do so as early as possible in the day as driving conditions could become difficult.  A good indication that the weather is not going to be at its best today is that the air pressure is currently falling rapidly.

In our patch we are fortunate that the worst of the weather will either be to the S or N of us.  The radar images are currently showing that rain is moving towards us from Wales and will reach our area by around 08:00 hours.  The rain will be light to start off with.  We will then see regular rain periods throughout the day and early parts of tomorrow with the heaviest rainfall today around 18:00 hours.  We should expect to see some localised flooding during the day.

The wind (from the SW-S) will also increase in velocity and we should see the wind speed increase to an average around 15mph with gusts up to 40mph.  These winds speeds will die down through tomorrow.

The top temperature today will be around 9-10c and the overnight low will be around 4c.
