Christmas Day Weather 2013

First of all can I take this opportunity to wish all the readers of my blog a very happy, peaceful and healthy Christmas!

Today will give you the opportunity to test your new bike or walk off some Christmas dinner as it will be a generally dry day.  There is a 32% chance of some light rain before 11:00 hours and a similar risk later in the day around 18:00 hours.  In between we will see varying cloud cover that will, at times, allow for some brighter spells.

The jet stream is currently looping below the UK before heading again north across the east coast.  For our area this means that we will see some cooler spells (hence the clearer sky at times).  Our top temperature today will only be around 4c and the overnight low around 0c (we may even reach -1c).

The wind will be a lot lighter than recent days and, in fact, as the day passes will get lighter when the air pressure points become wider apart. The wind will still derive from the SSW-SW and the average speed will be 5mph.
