The near gale force conditions continue across the UK with the strongest winds being felt in the north. We are current (approximately 08:30 hours) seeing average wind speeds of around 20mph and with gusts up to 40mph.
The wind will, however, die down as the day passes but we will not see any real respite until very late in the day. It certainly is not a day to be driving a high sided vehicle. I would also advise keeping away from wooded areas for fear of falling branches.
We have already seen a couple of millimetres of rain today but we can expect the last of any localised showers to blow past our area by around 11:30 hours. After that time the cloud base may even fragment a little and we my see some brighter spells.
The wind will continue to derive from the SW and this will bring with it milder air. The top temperature today will be around 9c. Overnight we can expect to see the thermometer show a minimum temperature of around 2-3c.
A windy day although generally remaining dry.
