The majority of the overnight rain has now moved eastwards, however, there are still one or two further systems that will head our way. The risk of rain is greatest around 10:00 hours but, hopefully, this system will simply blow by. The chance of further light rain today is around 55%.
Overall it will be a dry but cloudy day and the cloud cover will help hold the top temperature up to around 8c. Overnight we will see the minimum temperature at around 2c.
During the early hours of tomorrow another band of rain will work its way across the UK from W to E and we will see further rainfall around morning drive time. The average rainfall in January is 43mm so we are already 40% ahead of that figure. We cannot, however, complain too bitterly as we have had hardly had any icy days.
The wind will be blowing from the SSE to SW at an average speed of around 6mph.
Looking ahead at the jet stream position over the next few days (up through the weekend) sees the “stream” taking a course generally W to E across the UK. This will mean more cloud and rain on most days.
Risk of rain first thing this morning and by early morning cloudy but dry in between.
