I’m afraid I cannot add much cheer to the weather news today. The air pressure is falling rapidly and we are set for plenty more rain throughout the morning and up to mid afternoon. In the evening there will be more localised showers. The only interesting aspect of the rain is that we may see a little sleet mixed in with it from time to time for a bit of contrast.
Overnight the temperature reached a low of 2.1c at 01:41 hours and today will see a top temperature of 6-7c. The overnight temperature low tonight will be around 2c.
The wind will be blowing from the SW at an average speed of around 8mph. We may see some gusts at the time of the heaviest rain (around 10:00 – 12:00 hours) reach speeds of up to 30mph.
Looking ahead at the GFS models shows a dip in the average air temperature over the next few days in the run up to February. It is time to dig out the warm gloves and scarf!
