What can we expect from the weather today?

After yesterday’s wintry showers and moderate rainfall (10mm fell in our area) today will see the air pressure once again begin to fall which can only mean more inclement weather.

The radar images are showing a band of rain is moving across the UK and we can expect to see rain showers during drive time this morning until mid afternoon.  Some of the showers could be heavy.  The 1.5km pressure reading is currently hovering slightly above the 958hpa mark (the level below which we can expect to see snow) but don’t be surprised if we see some sleet.

The feature of the day will be the increasing wind strength as a developed low pressure system moves across our area.  We can expect the wind speeds to increase to a level of around 12mph average speed with gusts up to 30mph during daylight hours.  After dark the average wind speed will increase to around 20-22mph and we can expect gusts around the 45mph mark.

Our top temperature today will be around 6c (but will feel like 2c) and overnight the minimum will be around 1c.

A cold day with some more rain and strong breezes to contend with.
