During the small hours of the day we received a couple of millimetres of rain and although the radar images are now showing that the major rain cloud has now passed through our area there are still smaller systems to follow.
The images suggest we have a risk of showers around drivetime, during mid morning, mid afternoon and early to mid evening. These showers will be generally light to moderate. In between the showers we will see some brighter spells. These brighter spells will help lift our top temperature up to around 8c. Overnight with the cloud cover either fragmented or thin the minimum temperature will reach around 2c.
As you may be aware the met office has issued a yellow warning for snow in the West Midlands for Friday morning. My research shows that the forecast conditions at 1.5km are currently predicted to be just outside those required for persistent snowfall. Any accumulation is, therefore, more likely to be found on the higher reaches although we may see some sleet. This in itself may cause some disruption to traffic flow in the morning.
The wind today will be from a SW-WSW direction with an average speed of 10mph.
