Today sees the double celebration of Mother’s day and the start of British Summer Time. (Remember for BST to put your clocks forward by one hour).
To help bring further cheer to the day the weather will play its part by bringing us a mild day. The day, like yesterday, will start off misty but this will soon burn away to leave us with some bright spells through a partly cloudy sky. Despite the occasional cloud cover the chance of any rain is low at around 20%.
Our top temperature today will be around 17c so I am sure there will be a number of barbecues fired up for the first time today to celebrate the start of BST. Overnight the minimum temperature will be a very mild 7c.
The wind will start off from the NE and will be blowing at an average sped of around 4mph. A the day passes the wind direction will move slightly clockwise and will end the day deriving from the ESE. The average wind speed will increase a little in the afternoon / evening to around 6-7mph.
A mild day with some bright spells.
