Air pressure hints at a brighter future

This morning we have already received around 3mm of rain and the radar images are showing that there are more small rain cloud systems heading our way. The systems are currently over the North Wales / Merseyside area.

The next system of rain is likely to reach us around 11:00 hours.  This is a small system and may just miss us, blow past or be short-lived (65% risk of rain).  During the afternoon we can expect some intermittent light localised rain. (40% risk).  In between any showers will be the odd bright spell.  The cloud cover will vary between 60% and 100%.

Our top temperature today will be around 13c and overnight the low will be around 7c.  Last night’s minimum temperature was 7.6c at 00:01 hours.

The good news is that the air pressure continues to rise and this will lead to an improved weather picture as the week passes. The increases air pressure always means that the wind will be a lot lighter than of late.  The average wind speed will be around 6mph.  The wind will be deriving from the NW all day.

Lighter winds.  The risk of some showers but brighter spells too.

Observations made 06:27 hours Hammerwich, Staffordshire.
