Rain stops play

Last evening and early this morning our area received the first rain (around 3mm) of any note for 15 days and today we can expect to see some further showers during the day.  This rain must be a welcome relief to farmers, allotment owners and hay fever sufferers alike.

The radar images are showing further clusters of rain cloud moving in and around our area.  The next most significant will reach us by around 09:15 hours.  There are also further risks of rain showers during the late morning and, in particular, the afternoon.  I would take you hat or umbrella with you if you are planning to step outside for any period of time.  The chance of further rain today I would estimate to be around 95%.  Some of the rainfall could be heavy at times.

Our top temperature today will be around 16c and overnight the minimum will be around 11c.

The wind will be deriving from the ENE-E for the majority of the day.  The average wind speed will be around 5-6mph.

If you are a tennis fan it looks as if the championship at Wimbledon will see some disruption today.  The radar is, in particular, showing some rain showers during the afternoon period.
