Mixed up weather

As I said in yesterday’s post today and the next couple of days see the jet stream change its general position from one lying to the north of the UK to one lying to the south.  As the transition is made we will be in for more cloud than of late and mixed up weather conditions.  Today is no exception.

The day will be generally more cloudy and the radar images are showing that some rain cloud will pass over our area from around 08:30 to around 10:00 hours.  This cloud may simply blow by but it does bring a 55% risk of the odd drop of localised rain.

It will be a very warm and, at times, humid day.  Our top temperature will be a very sticky 23-24c but the humidity will be around 70-75% at times.  Great conditions if you want to swing the ball in cricket but not so great if you have to sit in a sweltering office.  Overnight the minimum temperature will be a very warm 13-14c.

The wind will be deriving from the NW and the average wind speed will be around 5mph.

Summary.  A warm and humid day but with a little more cloud than of late.

Observations made 06:31 hours Hammerwich, Staffordshire.

Air pressure : 1019mb, Temperature :13.6c, Wind: 4mph NW, Relative humidity : 83%, Rain this month :  24mm, Rain this year : 367mm .
