Cloudy morning

Today sees a cloudy start in our region and the rain radar images are showing that there is a small cluster of rain cloud heading towards the south of our patch around 07:00 to 09:00 hours.  This system will bring around a 40% chance of some rain this morning.

As the day passes we will see the odd bright spell but it will generally be through a partly cloudy sky.  Couple this with the fact that the jet stream is in the south then temperatures will struggle to reach 20c.  In fact I expect our top temperature to be nearer 18c.  Overnight the minimum temperature will be near 10c.

During the afternoon there is a more general spread of a rain system across the central parts of the UK and this will bring a 60% risk of rain to our area.

The wind will start the day off deriving from the SW but as the day passes the wind direction will move clockwise to end the day deriving from the WNW-NW.  This wind direction will bring with it a chill in the air.  The average wind speed today will be around 5-6mph.

Summary.  Cloudy start and remaining cloudy or partly cloudy for the majority of the day. 60% risk of some rain.
