How much rain?

We are now at the 319th day of the year and Autumn is now becoming well established.  We should, therefore, not be surprised to be greeted with some mist this morning.

The mist will slowly clear but it will not be to much sunshine.  There may be the odd brighter spell of sunshine but overall it will be an overcast day with a 20% chance of some further light rain.

Talking of rain we have now had 589mm (just over 23 inches) of rain fall in Hammerwich this year.  This equates to 1.8mm per day.  We tend to remember the dry summer we had, however, there has certainly been some wet spells too.  The average for the area is around 725mm per annum (1.98 mm per day).

Today’s top temperature will be around 9c and overnight the minimum will be around 6c.  The low last night was 3.9c at 01:13 hours.

The wind today will be deriving from the E with the average wind speed on being around 2-3 mph (hence why it will take some time for the mist to dissipate).
