Windy city

Today will be quite a breezy day but the good news is that  the wind will not be generally destructive.  We can expect the average wind speed to around 8-10 mph and gusts to reach around 30-35mph (force 4).  The wind will be deriving from the WSW.

It will also be another mild day as the jet stream will be still be running across the UK in a general W to E direction.  This situation will change in the next 24-36 hours and we will see the jet stream begin to run from the NW.  This will bring cooler more seasonal, temperatures to us during tomorrow.

Our top temperature today will be around 13c and overnight the low will be around 8c. During tomorrow we will see the temperature reduce as the jet stream position changes.

Because of the W-E weather pattern we have a higher risk of rain.  The radar images are currently suggesting a 40% risk of rain mid morning and a 85% risk of rain later this evening.  In between any of the light showers during the daytime we will also possibly see the odd brighter spell through fragmented clouds.

Summary : Breezy but remaining very mild.  The risk of rain particularly later.
