Have you got your gloves?

Today sees another bright start to the day and, at the time of my observations (06:33 hours) the stars were clearly visible.  You will, however, need your ice scraper and gloves first thing this morning.

Our top temperature will climb to around 2.5 – 3c during the day and overnight the minimum temperature will reduce back to around -2c.  During the later part of the morning and through the earl evening a low pressure system, that is moving towards the UK from the N, will develop some cloud in area.

This system will eventually bring some wintry showers to our area later in the week.  Currently there is a 25% chance of some light snow tomorrow, a 40% chance on Wednesday and a 68% chance on Thursday. This situation, however, develops quickly and is subject to change.

The wind will be deriving from a WNW-WSW arc throughout the day and will be generally be light with an average speed of around 3 to 4mph.  This average speed will reduce the “feel” of the air temperature by around 1.5c.

Summary.   A cold but bright start.  Cloud increasing later.
