Today sees the air pressure falling rapidly and the air temperature will remain cool all day. Our top temperature is only likely to be around 3c and overnight we will see a low of around -1c. The wind will, however, remain breezy all day and this will reduce the feel of the air temperature by at least 3c.
Heavy snow has already fallen in many parts of the northern UK and the radar images are clearly showing that there is some rain, sleet and snow that will fall in our area today. The chance of some form of precipitation (rain/sleet/snow) in our area is over 95%. The chance of just snow is currently around 50% during the day and 70% during the evening.
The wind will be deriving from the WSW-W for the majority of the day and the average wind speed will be around 12mph with gusts of up to 30mph.
During the day we will also see the odd bright spell through the fragmented cloud but this will not help the “feel” of a cool day.
