A brighter interlude

After the small amount of rain yesterday we wake up to a hard grass frost this morning as the temperature overnight reduced to below 0c. At 06:30 hours this morning the outside temperature was -2c and the moon and stars were very clearly visible.

High air pressure continues to sit above our area and the jet stream is still settled above the UK although the leading edge is running down the SE cost.  This means that we will feel a cool NW-NE breezes throughout the day.  The average wind speed will be around 5mph.

Throughout the daylight hours we will see some brighter spells via clear or fragmented cloud.  Our top temperature will rise to around 4c and overnight the minimum temperature will be around 0c.  Despite the occasional cloud cover there is only a 10% chance of rain today.  February will continue to be a generally dry month for a few more days yet.

The weekend looks as if the days will remain cool, generally dry but cloudy.

Summary.   A cool day with some bright spells.
