Mother’s day weather

The jet stream is currently sitting above the northern reaches of the UK and this is allowing the mild air from the south to mix with the cool air from the NE to produce some low to medium height cloud.

With this amount of cloud there is a slight risk (30%) of the odd drizzly spell.  These spells of drizzle will be localised and light and should not stop you going out for a walk or cycle if that is what is on your agenda.

Our top thermometer temperature today will be around 7c and overnight the low will be around 3-4c.  The “feel” of the top temperature will be around 1.5c less than the thermometer is reading due to the wind chill.

The wind will be deriving from the NE -ENE for the majority of the day and the average wind speed will be around 6mph.

The jet stream appears to be continuing to ride high above the UK for most of next week and this means that we will continue to see more cloudy weather.

Summary. Another cloudy day with the low risk of some localised drizzle.
